What is the impact of artificial grass on the environment?
Environmental considerations play an important role when choosing artificial grass. Artificial grass is eco-friendly. No need to mow, fertilise, water, and more importantly there is no need for chemicals for the maintenance. The US has many subsidy schemes to promote the installation of artificial grass. One of the main reasons is the water savings artificial grass generates. There are strict environmental standards in place that govern the ban on plasticisers and heavy metals for the production of artificial grass (DIN 18035-7 concerning leaching of heavy metals).
Water savings
There is no valuable drinking water needed for artificial grass.
Maintenance savings
As artificial grass does not grow, it does not need to be mown by electric mowers. This means no energy costs and no harmful emissions either.
Sustainability
Artificial grass has a long lifespan, depending of course on the chosen quality. If you choose a sustainable artificial grass product, this means ultimately less artificial grass will need to be removed and recycled.
Reduced use of pesticides and fertilisers
As Royal Grass® does not receive regular chemical treatment, an important source of groundwater pollution and human exposure to chemicals is eliminated. In addition, artificial grass has the advantage that the amount of chemicals (and dirt) brought into homes is also reduced considerably.
Royal Grass® is free from chemicals, making it an ideal solution for children. Children are more exposed to grass than adults as they like to play on it, so they are struck more heavily by pesticides.
Safe for people and environment
Royal Grass® is manufactured in such a way that the environmental impact is minimal. It does not contain any resources that are harmful to humans or nature (DIN 18035-7). We are continuously developing new production methods that are even more eco-friendly. We are taking our responsibility, now and in the future.
