How can I order a grass carpet?
Artificial grass is basically formed by a grass carpet. Green artificial grass fibres are fixed into a strong carpet grass backing. The technique used to make artificial grass is the same technique as used for normal carpets. That is why a large part of production takes place in Genemuiden, originally the ‘carpet city’ of the Netherlands. The transport of the rolls also requires a special expertise. The transport companies are also located here. Royal Grass®’ sales office is located in Uden, but our production and storage facilities are of course located in Genemuiden.
Width and length of the grass carpet rolls
As grass carpets are made on the same machines, the rolls are usually 4 metres in width (from which the term wall-to-wall carpet is derived). Width of five metres is also possible, but highly exceptional. Incidentally, for use in gardens or on balconies, most gardeners prefer carpets of 2 metres in width instead of 4. For this purpose the rolls are halved.
The length of the roll depends on the manufacturer. Usually a roll is some 20 to 25 metres long. One roll of grass carpet should cover about 80 or 100 square metres. Of course, the length of these rolls can be longer. However, with this length, the diameter of a roll is about 60 to 80 centimetres and the weight easily amounts to 200 kilogrammes. As you will understand, larger carpets are less workable. For larger projects, it is possible to order a different length. This cannot be delivered from stock, but will be manufactured especially for this order. These orders can only be taken for projects larger than 1,000m2 or in case they can be combined with a normal production run.
Grass carpets of Royal Grass®
Royal Grass® is produced in one of the most modern carpet factories. The manufacturing process is important for the adhesion of the artificial grass fibres and the right height of the fibres. The manufacturing process also determines the smoothness and evenness of the grass carpet.
We only use the best materials for our grass carpets. Royal Grass® exclusively uses the artificial grass fibres of Ten Cate. The carpet backing into which the fibres are fixed are also of Dutch manufacturing. You may not see the carpet backing, but that does not mean it is not important for the rigidity and lifespan of the grass carpet.
Royal Grass® has strict quality checks in place during all stages of the manufacturing process. Our artificial grass carpets are produced entirely in the Netherlands (Genemuiden) so Royal Grass® can guarantee a uniform and perfect quality of its grass carpets. We also ensure that no hazardous substances are being used for the grass carpets or during the manufacturing process.
Ordering carpet grass
The grass carpet will be cut to size from the roll for your garden. Several strips are seamed together with special seam tape and glue. We recommend you to consider the width of 4 metres when you design your lawn. You can avoid losing a lot of grass due to cutting it to size. We advise you to draw a sketch of the layout of your garden before you order the grass carpet. If you are stuck, simply take this sketch to one of our sales offices. It would be a shame if you would order too much or too little.
